What Your Gift Does Your support ensures that Stageworks thrives for the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews of our current patrons and artists. I’m proud of and excited by our current key initiatives, including:
Paid artists. Stageworks is now the top employer of theatrical artists in northwest Harris County. In our fiscal year that ended in August 2021, we paid almost 50 artists, and we more than doubled that in 2022. This includes actors, designers, show crew, teachers, and administrative staff. Ensuring these artists are attracted to our gem of a theatre in the suburbs confirms that we will have quality offerings on both our main stage and in our classrooms for future years.
Academy restructure. Donations allowed us to bring back our skills classes for students. Rather than committing to a full semester of rehearsals and the pressure of producing a full show, these skills classes are focused on sharpening skills. These classes also provide an easier entry point for students and families as they meet only once a week for an 8-week session, thus more accessible to a diverse set of students.
Professional staff. This year we added professional staff that each have extraordinary backgrounds. This will elevate our position with the community and potential funders.
