Richard Chaz Gomez, Director, Education Consultant

Richard Chaz Gomez (he/him) is a Cuban and Mexican American actor, singer, director, and educator born and raised in Houston, Tx. Richard holds a BFA in Musical Theatre and Theatre Directing from Abilene Christian University as well as his teaching certificate from Texas Teachers of Tomorrow in Theatre EC-12. 

 

From private lessons to public education and working with students with special needs, his love for translating the art of theatre has grown in the last ten years working with students from three to thirty! His technique pulls from methods originally derived from his favorite theatre practitioners, Uta Hagen, Konstantin Stanislavski, Robert Cohen, Sanford Meisner and more.

(Joe/Texas Regional Tour). Other acting credits: Beauty & the Beast (Beast), CATS (Old Deuteronomy), The Last Five Years (Jamie), Man of La Mancha (Sancho), Hands on A Hardbody (Benny), Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Val), Urinetown (Ensemble), Crazy for You (Bobby Child), Annie (Rooster), Peter and the Starcatcher (Alf), The White Rose (Christoph Probst), Hairspray (Corny Collins), Once On This Island (Papa Ge), The Wizard of Oz (The Cowardly Lion), Shrek (Donkey). Directing credits include: Hairspray, SpongeBob the Musical, Flat Stanley Jr., Peter and the Starcacther, Holes, and Pinkalicious. Richard’s one act play, Special Needs, was chosen as an award recipient and read at the TETA Festival in Galveston.
