Crimes Of The Heart: Bartlett

Who is that guy? I see him in everything. And he's good. And he always looks different.

Of course! You're talking about our very own Adam Harkay, whose greata talent lands him on our stage quite frequently. In Crimes of the Heart, Adam plays Bartlett, a young Mississippi attorney. Learn a little about what Adam does backstage.

You play Bartlett in Crimes. What has been special about playing him? How are you like or different than him?

I feel I relate to Bartlett because he's so nerdy and awkward, just like me!

We've seen you in a lot of shows at Stageworks. How did you find the theatre and how many shows have you done?

I found theatre through family friends who encouraged me to do at least one show. Well, 9 years and 40+ shows later, each show still is as exciting as the first.

Who's the funniest person in the cast in real life?

Not to be biased, but my female counterpart, Kristen (Babe) can always make me laugh before we start scenes. She's just such a fun and happy person.

When you have a five-minute break during rehearsal, what do you spend that time doing?

Get on my phone. Surf social media and check the weather.

What do you do when you're not doing theatre?

If not doing theatre, I'm either in school at Lone Star College, focusing on one of my three jobs, being social, or I'm with my girlfriend Catherine.

What's the last thing you do backstage before the curtain goes up?

Use the bathroom. LOL

If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?

Next to Normal would be my magical next show and I'd play Dan.

Come meet Adam this weekend at Crimes of the Heart, playing through March 25.
