Sam is currently the middle school theatre teacher at Second Baptist School and has previously served as Assistant Director of Education and Administrative Director of the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre at Theatre Under The Stars and Managing Director of the Houston Children’s Chorus. 

 

Stageworks credits:  Director:  Into the Woods, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Secret Garden; Music Director:  Bonnie and Clyde (2018 Broadway World Best Musical Director winner), Mamma Mia!, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables.  Other directing credits (select): Houston Symphony: Green Eggs and Ham; Theatre Under The Stars/Humphreys School of Musical Theatre: Scrooge; New York Musical Theatre Festival: Kissless;  Houston Chamber Choir: “Music In The Key Of Joy: An Evening With Jamie Bernstein.” Regional and professional acting credits include the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar with Ben Vereen.  

 

Sam holds a master’s degree in music history from The University of Houston and bachelor’s degrees in vocal music performance and music education from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and he is currently pursuing an MBA.
