Auditions: Holiday Follies - September 19, 2021, 4pm - 6pm
Have a Holly FOLLIES Holiday!
Experience the season as never before! The whole family will be dazzled by this bold and colorful show that celebrates the entertainers who brought magic to the Christmas season. Taking inspiration from Vaudeville and Follies shows, you'll laugh, tap your toes, and be amazed as we entertain you with some of the best performers in Houston.
This show will perform for only two weekends in December and is designed to give performers a much lighter rehearsal schedule than the traditional holiday-season shows we have produced.
Show and Audition Inspiration
The Follies were a series of lavish performance revues in the early to middle 20th century and were often styled as elaborate, high-class vaudeville and variety shows. Often performing internationally, on Broadway and on major tours across the globe, these revues often included well known singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, acrobats, comedians, trained animals, jugglers, etc. The first Follies was produced in 1907 at the roof theatre Jardin de Paris.
We want a fun-filled, multi-faceted and high spectacle production--Our own version of the Follies to fill our holiday stage. Bring your act – juggling, acrobatics, musical, dancing, trained animals, etc. No limit to the entertainment we are seeking other than appropriate for families. Your act might be cast as is or produced in special arrangement by our team.
Prepare your “act” of up to 3 minutes for the audition. Your audition can be in solo, duet, or group form. It could be singing, acting, dancing, magic, stand-up comedy, pantomime, stupid human tricks, instrumentalist, clowning, etc. ANY and ALL theatrical/visual arts talent are welcome. Musical acts should consider holiday favorites. Keep in mind that we are looking for exceptional talent that is FUNNY OR ENTERTAINING OR BOTH!
Your “talent” may be used in multiple ways throughout the show. We are producing the show and there will be numerous small scenes/acts, as well as several all-cast ensemble numbers. A scripted storyline will be created to help create the flow of the show.
