- (March 2, 2017) Stageworks Theatre presents its sixth production of the season, "Peter and the Starcatcher", a play by Rick Elice, music by Wayne Barker; based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Directed by Rachel Landon, the show runs April 28 - May 21 at The Garza Mainstage. Come see how friends become foes and how a young, mischievous boy got his name-Peter.

Tony-winning "Peter and the Starcatcher" upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be "The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up" (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's best-selling novels, the play was conceived for the stage by directors Roger Rees and Alex Timbers and written by Rick Elice with music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair and the bonds of friendship, duty, and love.

"I'm so excited to be a part of the Houston community-theatre premiere of "Peter and the Starcatcher"; a show I fell in love with several years ago, on Broadway," said Landon. "The style, design, and compelling storytelling took my breath away. Audiences can expect to see a little magic in this show, the adult prequel to Peter Pan. The story, the design and the production in general will be eccentric and unique. Come prepared to see a visual spectacle."

The leading cast members creating the magic are Chad Dyer (Peter/Boy), Morgan Montgomery (Molly), and Chris Gibson (Blackstache). Behind the scenes, the tech crew consists of David Dean (sound design), Ron Putterman (lighting design), Michael Montgomery (artistic director), and Amber Stepanik (costume design).
