HOUSE MANAGER

Are you a natural host? We need you!

 

We are looking to expand our team of house managers to lead our concession volunteers and box office during each show. ​The House Manager at Stageworks is the person in charge of the facility and the volunteers for each main stage show.  You are the face who greets volunteers and ensures a great experience for all!​

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrive one hour and fifteen minutes prior to show start time.

  • Verify that lobby area (including concessions), house, and all restrooms are clean and presentable for patrons.  This may include but is not limited to sweeping, wiping counters, picking up/taking out trash, dusting, and stocking paper products and soap.

  • Assist Box Office Manager with any ticket/patron issues.

  • Count Concession cash box before and after the show.  This will also include securing the cash box at the end of the night.  (Box Office Manager secures her own cash box each night.)

  • Manage Usher and Concessions volunteers and will be available to answer any questions.

  • Work closely with Stage Manager on opening the house, timing of show start, and intermission.

  • Assist with seating late arriving patrons.

  • Solve any issues arising with facilities and patrons while on duty.

  • Guard the lobby or secure the lobby door to ensure safety.

  • Ensure garbage is taken to the dumpster and that facility is presentable for the next day.

  • Ensure that facility is shut down for the night including turning off lights and securing doors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong and friendly communication skills

  • Able to handle ambiguous and changing situations that can happen with customers during a show

  • Professional presentation and dress

  • Able to count money, speak English

  • Must be age 21+ as position involves working with alcohol

  • Demonstrated leadership and pattern of responsible behavior 

 

This job is a part-time commitment and shifts are aligned with our show dates.  You will be paid a stipend of $70 per shift.  If you’d prefer to volunteer, that is appreciated, and you’ll be eligible for complimentary show tickets. ​

This position requires handling money and does require a background check.
