Stageworks Theatre announces auditions for its next show of the 2021/2022 season, The Cake, by Bekah Brunstetter performing March 18, 2022 through April 3, 2022.

Directed by Lisa Garza, The Cake is the story of Della, a small-town baker in Now, North Carolina, with a big passion for cakes and the Bible. Della is delighted when Jen — the girl Della practically raised as her own — comes back to town and asks Della to bake a cake for her wedding for Jenny’s fiancée, Macy. Della’s faith and love of the Bible are challenged, and she must make one of the hardest decisions of her life.

Advisory: The Cake is suitable for mature audiences who can handle its themes, some adult language and sexual references and implied nudity.

Auditions are open to the community and parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity.  All actors are required to be at least 18 years old at the time of auditions.  Roles may be cast without callbacks.  Rehearsals and performances are held at Stageworks Theatre, 10760 Grant Road, Houston, Texas 77070

HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATE* – For the health and safety of our performers, volunteers and staff and to mitigate all risks as best we can, we require all eligible performers to be fully vaccinated against Covid19 (two vaccine doses of Moderna and/or Pfizer or one dose of Johnson & Johnson). Proof of vaccination is also requested at auditions.
