AUDITIONS

Members of our community have the unique opportunity to learn more about theatre production and hone their talents in a welcoming and inclusive community of theatre-lovers. Stageworks Theatre invites any interested member of our community to audition as we seek to engage diverse and energetic volunteers that comprise many shapes, sizes, colors, genders and ages. Our productions are cast by an open audition and callback process. ​

The Wedding Singer

The year is 1985. The place is New Jersey.​

 

Rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer's sparkling new score does for the '80s what Hairspray did for the '60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years!

​Not all actors will be called to all rehearsals.

Conflicts will be worked around when possible.

Thursday pick-up rehearsals (7-10pm) may be required once show has opened.​​

​AUDITION INFORMATION

  • Open to actors 17 and older.

  • Actors interested in auditioning should prepare an audition song from The Wedding Singer. All actors will be asked to sing the verse and chorus, but please be prepared to sing more if asked.

  • After singing auditions, actors will be called to a dance audition.

  • Auditions are on Saturday, December 7th, beginning at 9am.

    • Individual 5-minute audition time slots available from:

      • 9am-10:20am

        • Actors auditioning in this timeframe will be called to a 10:30am group dance audition

      • 11:00am-12:20pm

        • ​Actors auditioning in this timeframe will be called to a 12:30pm group dance audition

      • 1:00pm-2:20pm

        • ​Actors auditioning in this timeframe will be called to a 2:30pm group dance audition

  • Possible callbacks may be required in the evenings, the week of December 9th.​​​

  • Auditions are open to the community and parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity.

While in-person auditions are preferred, video auditions will also be accepted if you are not available on December 7th.
