"Mama's Boy" To Have Maskless Cast Starting April 9

Marguerite (Norah Hahn) and Lee Harvey Oswald (Caleb Glass) rehearse for "Mama's Boy." Actors will be maskless for the show starting April 9.

We are delighted to announce that we’ve successfully completed four full productions in the past few months, and have a few more to go until we announce the 2021-2022 season in a couple of months. We want to extend our appreciation to those of you who have made it out to our recent productions, and also extend a welcome to those who have been waiting for the right moment to come back. That moment is here!

On April 9, our next Garza Main Stage production, Mama’s Boy, starts for a four-weekend run. We hope to see you at this intense, informative, and incessant look at the life of Lee Harvey Oswald and the tumultuous relationship with his mother. After much research and deliberation – and with the agreement and blessing of the cast, crew, and personnel involved – it was decided that the actors on stage performing the show will not be wearing masks.

Stageworks values the health, safety, and comfort of our patrons and actors alike. Theatregoers can rest assured that they will themselves be kept safe in our auditorium. We are maintaining mask guidelines, social distancing, temperature checks, and sanitizing protocols for our audience members. The actors will be at a minimum of 10-15 feet away from the nearest audience member, full disinfectant procedures will be performed before and after each performance, each actor will be temperature-checked and health-inspected before each performance, and our newly purchased REME HALO In-Duct Air Purifying System is operating at full power, enabling our AC system to remove 99 percent of any harmful contaminants in the air, including COVID. This system is the same that hospitals use to keep their air clean.

We have opted to present Mama’s Boy with “barefaced actors” because of the unique personal nature of live theatre. We strive to allow our audiences to lose themselves in the universe created by our productions, while at the same time ensuring they are part of that universe in as secure and safe an environment as situations allow. With a local infection rate that is below the average, along with the ongoing gubernatorial mandates and CDC updates, we felt that the time was right.
