Stageworks Theatre Summer Camps Open for Enrollment

HOUSTON (March 13, 2017) - The Stageworks Theatre Acting Academy's 2017 Summer Camps are open for enrollment. Summers at our Acting Academy are a blast! We have performance and skill-based classes for all ages, and all levels of experience. If you'd like to discuss what classes are best for your performer, contact us via email or at 281-587-6100. Academy Director, Rachel Landon enthusiastically explains, "Whether the adventure takes them through the land of Oz or the streets of New York City, the actors in our program will challenge the kids to become better performers, in addition to more bold, imaginative, and creative people."

Performance Camps for Ages 6 - 14

Fantastic Mr. Fox, Ages 6 - 14

June 5 - 16, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Performances are June 15 at 7 p.m., and June 16 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Disney's Aladdin JR., Ages 6 - 14

June 19 - July 7, 2017, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Performances are July 6 at 7 p.m., and July 7 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, DISNEY'S ALADDIN JR. is sure to send audiences soaring on a flying carpet ride filled with romance and adventure.

Fame the Musical, JR., Ages 11 - 14

July 10 - 28, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Performances are July 27 at 7 p.m., and July 28 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Following the international acclaim of the hit motion picture, television series and stage show, FAME THE MUSICAL JR. is nothing short of a global phenomenon. FAME THE MUSICAL JR. features a high energy, contemporary pop score (which includes the hit title song) and a touching coming-of-age story.

Pirates! Theadus Thud and the Quest for Weird Beard, Ages 6 - 14

July 24 - Aug. 4, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Performances are Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., and Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A friendly game of pirates becomes all too real when overzealous Theodore accidentally falls into a giant sinkhole and wakes up to find himself amongst real high sea swashbucklers. Before getting back to the real world, he is forced on an epic journey with his companion Harriet the Ghost in a quest to find the notorious pirate Weird Beard and foil the mutinous Mr. Clunky Bones. Will Theodore be able to save Captain Cramp Hand's ship from falling into evil clutches and return to his friends in time for ice cream?

Marvelous Land of Oz, Ages 6 - 14

Tip is a lonely boy who is forced to live with Mombi, an evil witch. After Mombi obtains some Powder of Life from the sorcerer, Tip takes it and uses it to create two friends: Jack Pumpkinhead and Sawhorse. The three friends decide to run away from Mombi. On their journey, they run into General Jinjur and her army, who are planning on taking over the Emerald City. Jack and Sawhorse head to the Emerald City and meet the Scarecrow king and Jellia, his assistant, and they all become friends. Meanwhile, Tip heads to the Emerald City as well and warns the Scarecrow about Jinjur's army. The Scarecrow, Tip, Jack, and Sawhorse all flee to get help from the Tin Woodman. Together, this group, plus Wogglebug, then head off to find Glinda. Glinda tells them that the throne does not belong to Scarecrow, but to Princess Ozma, daughter of the late King Pastoria.

Game of Tiaras, Ages 13 - 18

July 10 - 21, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Performances are July 20 at 7 p.m., and July 21 at 10 a.m and 3 p.m.

Light Saber Lodge, Ages 8 - 16

June 5 - 9, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. (Ages 8 - 11) and 1 - 4 p.m. (Ages 12 - 16)

Channel your inner Jedi as fight choreographer, Jonny Ringo, teaches how to safely duel with your light saber. Stageworks will provide fighting light sabers for everyone's safety. You will have the option to purchase your light saber at the end of the camp. A light saber duel will be presented the last day of class.

Muggles 101, Ages 5 - 14

June 12 - 16, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. or 1 - 4 p.m.

It's hard work being a wizard in a muggle world. Discover the tricks a wizard uses to blend in with muggles and how mixing with muggles can sometimes backfire. Potions, wands, harmless spells, and cool contraptions are all part of the wizarding world! Bring your best potion, wand and disguise ideas and let's find out to which house YOU belong!

Hogwarts: School of Stagecraft & Wizardry, Ages 9 - 14

June 19 - 23, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Professor Gibson teaches the art of stagecraft while you learn about lights, sound and set construction. Gain practical experience when the little witches and wizards help create the magical setting of INTO THE WOODS JR.

Hamilton: Rise Up and Sing, Ages 10 - 16
