The Acting Academy opens registration for the area premier of ROCK OF AGES 101.
Are you ready to ROCK?! Join the Stageworks Theatre Acting Academy for the Houston premier of Rock of Ages. This Tony Award-nominated, worldwide Broadway musical features the hits of bands including Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and more. It’s time for big bands, big dreams, and big hair!
The 80's brought us the fashion, the noise and of course, the rock anthems that will remain ingrained in history: “Nothin' but a Good Time,” "We Built This City.”"I Wanna Rock.” "We're Not Gonna Take It,”"I Want to Know What Love Is" and "Don't Stop Believin.”. In 2005, Chris D'Arienzo wrote the book for ROCK OF AGES, which shot to success in Los Angeles, Broadway, Las Vegas and worldwide tours. It has been one of longest running shows of all time.
Stageworks Acting Academy will be the first among Houston theatres to produce this fun, imaginative and colorful musical. Director Rachel Landon will help you release your rock voice while choreographer Brittany Halen will give you moves like Jagger. Landon believes in the message of the show and the power of what it can teach young performers. "Like the music of the 1980's, Rock of Ages is a story about protest, love, and a lust for life. More than anything, it's about the simplicity of just having a good time. I am looking forward to our young artists experiencing this rock odyssey!”
Classes are held at Stageworks Theatre on Wednesdays from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with tech rehearsals on May 30 and 31, 2017. Performances are scheduled for June 1,2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and June 4 at 2 p.m. There is no class March 15, 18 and April 15.
