HOUSTON (June 14, 2016) – The eighties classic, Footloose, rocks its way onto the Garza Mainstage, July 15 – August 7. Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford and music by Tom Snow, Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman, this iconic musical will have you dancing in your seat.

Footloose is the story of a rebellious big-city teenager in competition with a small-town minister. Their struggle wreaks havoc on a quiet southern town that prohibits rock music and dancing. When the Chicago-born teen calls for a rock ‘n’ roll prom and the cultural revitalization of a repressed town, drama ensues. With famous, memorable songs such as “Footloose” and “Let’s Hear it for the Boy,” Footloose will dance into your heart, July 15 – August 7 at Stageworks Theatre.

Director Adam Delka highlights, “This is a fun show. My goal is to immerse you right into the 80s. You’ll experience the sounds, colors, fashion and conflicts of the 80s. It was an era when the consumer generation started to emerge, with increased media and communication. Teens now had phones in their rooms and access to MTV. This show examines the fear that this exposure instilled in a lot of parents. Good parents…but nervous parents.”

The talented cast includes Jeremy Gee (Ren McCormick), Elsa Moen (Ariel Shaw), Morgan Montgomery (Rusty), Rachel Palmer (Wendy Joe), Caylin Keliehor (Urleen), Jonathan Lammey (Willard), Brian Shircliffe (Reverend Shaw), Jana Ellsworth (Vi Shaw), and Nora Hahn (Ethel McCormick).

The production team includes Adam Delka (director), Jesse Lozano (music director), Dru Wiser (choreographer), Alex Brokmeyer (stage manager), Barbara Terry (costume design), Ben Mason (scenic design), Ron Putterman (lighting design), and David Dean (sound design).
