Natalie Lerner, Theatre Administration and Academy Director
Natalie stepped into the role of Stageworks Theatre Administration and Academy Director, in September, 2017. She brought a diverse background in the arts, a talent for managing logistics while building partnerships, programs, and events, and a commitment to creating stimulating experiences that engage the community.
In 2014, out of a desire to stay artistically active while home with a newborn in need of physical therapy, Natalie was Artistic Director of The Mosaic Hub, an organization that brought Houston's mosaic of arts and entertainment artists under one umbrella as a hub for creative expression. This took shape in the form of variety shows, which highlighted and raised funds for local charitable missions. Natalie had the honor of working with over 900 artists and creating a bilingual after-school theater program for HISD schools.
Natalie's previous four years as Assistant to Performing & Visual Arts at The Village School laid a strong foundation for where she is today. During her time there, she coordinated over 2,000 events and helped to launch a theatre program for primary and early elementary age students. Natalie had been enjoying a year of freelance public speaking, sound designing at Unity Theatre, improv acting at Comedysportz, and teaching theatre through Mainstreet, as well as the Stages' Shakespearean Outreach Program at Project Row Houses, before she landed at The Village School.
That year of freelance was brought on by the birth of her first son, and also the reason she left her four years as a company member of the A.D. Players Theater. While at A.D. Players, Natalie enjoyed numerous roles on stage and on tour, as well as being Sound Designer, Acting Instructor, and Group Sales Rep. In 2008, Natalie received Spotlighter Awards for Best Actress and Best Sound Design.
In addition to on- and offstage experience, Natalie carries on-air experience. Natalie achieved lead emcee status at Radio Disney AM 1590, and was even a DJ with KJCS 103.3. Also, her writing has received 1st place awards through the National Broadcasting Society for the writing of a documentary and for the writing of a public service announcement.
Natalie's unique and colorful background stems from a life-long love for creativity and communication. She materialized this love through a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in both Theatre and Radio/TV Communications from Stephen F. Austin State University, as well as summer studies from TVI Actor's Studio, Los Angeles.
