Katie Heaton, Music Director
Katie Heaton (she/her) is a music director, performer, and educator. She holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Vanderbilt University, a M.M. in Vocal Performance from University of North Texas, a M.M.Ed. in Secondary Music Education from Tarleton State University, and a SBEC Teaching Certificate for Music EC-12. She has performed as a featured singer in both orchestral and chamber concerts as well as operas in the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, and China. Favorite roles include: Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Greta Fiorentino in Street Scene, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, and Alice Ford in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Katie spent 9 years as a public school choral director and continues to maintain her private voice studio. In addition to teaching she has designed and implemented a variety of middle school music curricula and served as a co-writer for a classical middle/high school humanities curriculum. Currently she is a corporate education specialist developing and delivering curriculum to clients in a variety of sectors.
Katie lives in Houston with her dog, Edgar. Outside of teaching Katie enjoys cooking, cross-stitching, and continually re-arranging her living room. Stageworks credits include: The Addams Family (2022), The Drowsy Chaperone (2022), Sweeney Todd School Edition (2022), and Mary Poppins Jr. (2021).
