Devin Whitten - Director
Devin (they/them) is a professionally trained actor, teacher, and director in the Houston area. They received their Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Psychology with an emphasis in Acting from the University of Northern Colorado and Conservatory Certification from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. They have more than 20 years of experience as an actor, having worked professionally in New York, Los Angeles, and Colorado in both the film and theatre industries. 2018 they began teaching at a conservatory program in the Bay Area and have absolutely fallen in love with teaching.
They are formally trained in Meisner, Stanislavsky, Suzuki, and Chekhovian methods, have a deep love for Uta Hagen, and an extensive knowledge and passion for Shakespeare and voice for the actor. They have had the distinct honor of studying alongside Baayork Lee, Suzan Zeder, Jeanine Tesori and many other notable names in the industry. Their belief is that truth in acting is the foundation of all great performers and that truth begins with trust, support, and fun in the classroom. They take immense pride in their own work as an actor and in bringing their knowledge and passion to the next generation of performers.
More important to Devin than the quality of an actors training, is that they feel validated, respected, and heard. They work very hard to be patient, empathetic, and careful with their students feelings and schedules. They pride myself immensely on their ability to balance professionalism with compassion; and look forward to working with you!
