As we embark on auditions and callbacks for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," it's crucial to understand the core of these characters. The Peanuts Gang, despite being children, resonate deeply with adults because they reflect back to us a mirror of our own experiences, emotions, and struggles. Their simplicity belies a depth that speaks to the human condition and captures the essence of how we perceive ourselves and our world. Rather than focusing solely on imitating a child's voice or mannerisms from previous portrayals, we encourage you to bring your authentic self to the table. We're not concealing the fact that these characters are being portrayed by adults; therefore, we're seeking a balance between youthful energy and adult sensibility. Your own, unique interpretation of these iconic characters is what matters most to us.

This relatability we have with Charlie and the gang is what has made them timeless icons, cherished by generations. I am so excited to cherish it further with the Stageworks community.

Stageworks is a high-quality community theatre and performance positions are volunteer. We are looking for people passionate about performing and working alongside a community of like-minded individuals committed to supporting Stageworks’ mission to cultivate a space where people connect, transform, and thrive – onstage and in the world.

The creative team is committed to casting practices that advance diversity and inclusion. All ethnicities, types, and abilities will be considered for every role. Additionally, the genders listed in the breakdown below are specific to the pronouns used in the script, however the creative team may consider any gender identity for roles provided that the performer can execute the vocal requirements.

CHARLIE BROWN – Baritone – A lovable loser, a child possessed of endless determination and hope, but who is ultimately dominated by his insecurities and a “permanent case of bad luck.” While unfortunate incidents occur to him constantly, he keeps an optimistic, good natured attitude, and will always keep trying. Looking for a strong Baritone voice and character actor who can drive the show.

SNOOPY – Tenor/Alto- Charlie Brown's imaginative and mischievous beagle. He is often seen living inside his own vivid fantasy world, where he imagines himself as the World War I Flying Ace, a sophisticated author, or his alter ego “Joe Cool.”  Snoopy is witty, playful, and full of charm. Must be an actor with strong comedic timing, expressive physicality, and ability to command the stage with their personality and singing voice.

*This role is open to all genders.

LUCY VAN PELT – Mezzo-Soprano – A queen of her own universe. She is especially sour towards Charlie Brown and her little brother Linus. Lucy is in love with Schroeder who has no interest in her whatsoever. Lucy is loud, opinionated, and has a very strong personality. Looking for an actor with a strong belt, comedic timing, and big physicality.

LINUS VAN PELT – Baritone – A thumb sucking blanket loving philosopher. He is Lucy’s younger brother and Charlie Brown's best friend. While he is the second youngest of the gang, he is the most profound and intelligent. Looking for an actor that finds the dichotomy between his down to earth wisdom and his childlike naivety. Dance experience is a plus!

SALLY BROWN – Soprano – Charlie Brown’s younger sister. Highly articulate, charismatic, and precocious. She has occasional bouts of frustration, particularly with her school work and her jump rope. Sally provides comic relief, and is the youngest of the gang. While she is the youngest, she has some of the most cynical views on life. Strong mix belt.

SCHROEDER – Tenor – An obsessive art loving piano prodigy. Schroder is an intense perfectionist, intellectual, and socially awkward. He is often seen sitting at his toy piano, lost in his own world. Lucy is infatuated with Schroeder, but he has more of an obsession for classical music and the composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. Actor must be a strong stylistic singer.
