Excellence in Overall Design & Presentation
Designer: Lisa Garza, Houston Family Arts Center, Houston, Texas, Peter Pan
The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) sponsors a design competition in conjunction with their National Festival which is held in alternate years. Categories include Web Design, Costume Design, Makeup, Lighting, and Scenic Design. This past summer, the AACT National Festival was held in Grand Rapids, MI and featured artistic endeavors from across the country. David Len, Scenic Designer for Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, selected the design from HFAC's 2014 production of Peter Pan as the National winner.

Best Gem of a Theater
Awarded by The Houston Press
Houston Family Arts Center received the Best Gem of a Theater Award at the inaugural Houston Theater Awards presented by the Houston Press. The Houston Theater Awards presentation was held at the MKT Bar Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012.
The Houston Press explained, “The variety and quality of our theater are unsurpassed, season after season. New companies open all over town, our university departments deliver consistently high-end productions, our regional theater is second to none and our professional troupes rival anything seen on Broadway. The depth of the product, the creative range of our actors and the pure joy exuded by everyone in putting on a show are marvels to behold. Nothing in the arts grabs the imagination and shakes us up more than live theater.”

Twink Lynch Award
Awarded by American Association of Community Theatre (AACT)
Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) was the proud recipient of the 2012American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Twink Lynch Award. This prestigious award was presented by Linda Lee, AACT President, at the AACT National Convention in New York City on July 14, 2012. This award focuses national attention on HFAC as a leading force in Houston’s thriving community theatre scene.
The Twink Lynch Award recognizes AACT community theatre members for successfully completing major steps in new directions, expanding services to their community and moving to the next level of organizational development.
