Stageworks Theatre announces auditions for its next show of the 2021/2022 season, The Mousetrap , by Agatha Christie, performing July 22 - August 7, 2022.

Directed by Debra Schultz, The Mousetrap is the world's longest-running play!

The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed. The Mousetrap is the longest-running play in the history of London's West End and features a brilliant surprise finish from Dame Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time.

Auditions are open to the community and parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity.  All actors are required to be at least 18 years old at the time of auditions. Roles may be cast without callbacks.  Rehearsals and performances are held at Stageworks Theatre, 10760 Grant Road, Houston, Texas 77070.

How to Audition
  • Register to audition here.

  • Select a role(s) you'd like to audition for and be familiar with the associated side(s) for the specific character(s) you'd prefer. Memorization is not required for the audition. Also, it is recommended that you become familiar with other roles as well to increase your chances of being cast. You will perform the selected piece.

  • Unable attend auditions? We will accept video auditions no later than April 1, 2022. Please register as instructed above and also submit a Vimeo or YouTube audition link in the appropriate field in the audition form (please provide password if needed).  If there are extenuating circumstances and would prefer to audition in person, but can’t make it, please contact our Artistic Director.

Rehearsal Schedule
  • Regular rehearsals: May 23 - July 15, 2022 

  • Tech week is July 16 - July 21  (all day Saturday, partial Sunday and 6-10pm M-Th - no conflicts accepted).

  • Actors also must commit to "brush-up" rehearsals on July 28 and August 4 or assigned as extra show dates.

  • Generally, four (4) regular rehearsals per week: Monday-Thursday 7-10pm & alternating Saturdays depending on conflicts (schedule will be published in advance)

  • Not all actors are called to every rehearsal.  We will work around your schedule; however, this show requires strict rehearsal attendance.  four rehearsal conflicts are accepted.

Performance Schedule
  • July 22 - August 7, 2022 (9 shows Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm & Sundays at 3pm). Additional shows are possible on July 28 and August 4 TBD (Added shows are 7:30pm)

  • Mollie Ralston (Presenting female): the wife of Giles Ralston, Mollie is the young owner of Monkswell Manor, a Victorian era estate that has recently been converted into a guest house.

  • Giles Ralston (Presenting male): Mollie’s husband of one year, Giles is the co-host of Monkswell Manor.

  • Christopher Wren (Presenting male): A flighty, obviously neurotic young man, Chrisopher Wren is a guest at Monkswell Manor.

  • Mrs. Boyle (Presenting female): Stern and generally unpleasant, Mrs. Boyle is a guest at Monkswell Manor.

  • Major Metcalf: (Presenting male) A typical retired British military officer, Major Metcalf is a guest at Monkswell Manor.

  • Miss Casewell (Presenting female): A bit masculine in her demeanor, Miss Casewell, another guest at Monkswell Manor, remains mysteriously aloof from the other guests.

  • Mr. Paravicini (Presenting male): An unexpected guest at Monkswell Manor, Mr. Paravicini is there only because of his car became stuck in a snowbank during a terrible blizzard.

  • Detective Sergeant Trotter (Presenting male): A late arriving guest at Monkswell Manor, Detective Trotter is trying to establish a relationship between any of the guests and a murder already committed at another location.

  • $300 Stipend is paid to all actors at the conclusion of the production.
