Lyrics by MINDI DICKSTEIN
Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott
Performing on the Garza Mainstage for two weekends, January 14 - 23, 2022
Rehearsals: Tuesdays/Thursdays and some Saturday afternoons between October 4 - January 14 from 7-10pm
Based on Louisa May Alcott's American classic, this Civil War
story of love and family stands
the test of time.
Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.
This will be a fast-paced audition-only class and students will be expected to learn much of the music prior in order to ensure a smooth rehearsal process.
Fee: $449 + $35 registration. There is no fee to audition. Once casting is announced, registration must be completed within 24 hours to secure your spot. Payment plans are available.
How to Audition
Auditions will be held at Stageworks Theatre Callbacks will be held onsite with proper social distancing and safety procedures on Wednesday, May 19 from 7pm - 10pm.
1. Record your video audition. You have two options for material:
Prepare either of these two songs (any gender can sing either song). Instructions and materials at this link.
Alternatively, you may prepare a 60 second cut of any other song from the show.
Although we understand that no all actors are interested in the characters associated with the two proposed songs, they were chosen because "Giants" has the broadest range of any of the songs and all of the male lead parts have a top range required that is the same as the top range of that song. "I Know Things" is a less tricky Sondheim song for those who are not accustomed to the rhythms of this composer. So regardless of what song you sing, the director will consider you for any part you list of interest.
2. Complete our online audition form at this link. You will need a link to your audition video, any conflicts, an emergency contact, your acting resume, and a headshot. The dates listed are the rehearsal dates. Please be thorough with your conflicts. Surprise-conflicts later can cause an actor to be replaced.
