Stageworks Theatre produces eight theatrical works (dramas, comedies, and musicals) each season which reflect high artistic quality and cultural diversity. We strive to inspire adults, teens, and children by providing a safe and encouraging environment that fosters creativity, respect, personal growth, and character development.

 

We are dedicated to building long-term relationships with our actors, theatre artists, patrons and community by providing exceptional entertainment and professional education.

In Alan Ball’s hilarious comedy, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, five very different bridesmaids find themselves hiding together in an upstairs bedroom, hoping to escape the wedding reception of a bride that -- they soon realize -- none of them really like!

12 Angry Men

Based on the Emmy award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose.

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case—until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become angry. The jurors' final verdict and how they reach it will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Experience Charles Dickens’ most well-known story with this spectacular musical adaptation! Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island), breathe fantastic new life into the classic tale of A Christmas Carol.

(This show will be presented in collaboration with Lone Star College, Cy-Fair, at their beautiful theatre, with Artistic Direction and design by Stageworks. )

In Sylvia, the world of a middle-aged New York couple is turned topsy-turvy when the husband brings home an exceptionally engaging canine running loose in Central Park.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.

Beehive: The 60's Musical

Beehive is the ultimate celebration of 1960’s female empowerment. Featuring such timeless classics as “My Boyfriend’s Back”, “Be My Baby”, “Son of a Preacher Man”, and “Me and Bobby McGee”, Beehive nostalgically recalls the days of miniskirts, transistor radios and flower power. Told from the perspective of six young women who came of age in this enigmatic decade, these young ladies look back on a host of issues ranging from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges we faced as a nation – all accomplished by a vast array of the most celebrated and memorable songs of the era.

Harvey

May 17 - June 9, 2019

Mary Chase’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is the story of Elwood P. Dowd, a polite and friendly man with a very strange best friend—a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch invisible rabbit named Harvey. Elwood’s sister Veta is concerned the rabbit will interfere with her life as a socialite, so she tries to have Elwood committed at the local sanatorium. Veta is so hysterical when she explains her brother’s condition that she is committed instead. Elwood leaves the sanatorium grounds unbothered, turning the town upside down as everyone goes on the lookout for this mind-mannered hero and his invisible rabbit. Or is it invisible?
